Bio of Rev. Dr. Carol J. Evans LeBlanc

Westminster Presbyterian Church has an interim pastor. She is the Rev. Dr. Carol LeBlanc, who was born and raised in Findlay, Ohio, where First Presbyterian Church was her church home and where her family was always active. During her growing up years she was always involved in music, singing in church and school choirs, performing in musical productions, and playing flute in school bands. She was also active in Campfire Girls all the way through school.

She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Education, after which she taught public school music for a short while in Toledo and then in Pittsburgh. During the years her children were growing up, she led a children's choir and youth bells choirs in a Presbyterian church in Oil City, PA.

Carol graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1985, and over the course of the last 23 years of her ministry, she has served in the following capacities and many and varied locations: assistant minister, staff assistant at Pittsburgh Presbytery, interim pastor (several places), pastor, and designated pastor.

Carol’s son Andrew is married to Trisha, and they are the parents of 9-year-old twins.  They live in Red Lion, PA (outside York), but both Andrew and Trisha work in Baltimore. Her daughter Allison, a 1998 graduate of Wooster, is married to Chuck Foye, and they are the parents of her 2-year-old Gavin. They live in Burton, east of Cleveland, and both work in that area. Carol’s husband Hugh, a Canadian born and raised in northern Ontario, is a piano technician, drummer, and singer. His son Ryan, married to Crystal, will soon take the state board pharmacy exams. They live in Richmond, VA.  Rounding out the family is Daisy, Carol and Hugh’s 6-year-old yellow lab. She’s only half as big as Marley of "Marley and Me" fame but far more well behaved!

Carol looks forward to being in ministry at Westminster, beginning the process of discerning God's call to the congregation in this time and place, working on creative worship services that bring spiritual and theological depth and richness of meaning. And most importantly, she is eager to get to know all of the church community, recognizing that the relationships formed there will be lasting and precious.

                                                               Emily Howard
                                                              Summer Intern

Westminster is participating in a new summer employment program at the College of Wooster called WooCorps. The Office of Interfaith Campus Ministries created three ministry internships for WooCorps in conjunction with the three Presbyterian churches in Wooster. Emily Howard, class of 2010, is serving as a summer intern at Westminster through this program.

Emily grew up in nearby New Pittsburg, Ohio, approximately 15 minutes outside of Wooster. Raised in the Church of God denomination, she is excited to be learning about and experiencing the PC(USA) at Westminster and the College of Wooster. Emily is a Religious Studies major and is considering a career in ministry or teaching. Some of her favorite religion courses so far have been Religious Autobiography, Interfaith Dialogue, and The Life and Thought of Gandhi, and she recently completed her Junior Independent Study on the emerging church movement.

Emily is involved with a variety of activities on campus. She participates in the Worthy Questions program and Sunday@7 student worship with Interfaith Campus Ministries, lives in La Casa Hispánica Spanish Suite in Luce Hall, and plays flute and piccolo in Scot Marching and Symphonic Bands. During the school year she also works as a waitress at The Mill Restaurant in Buehler’s Milltown.

Emily thanks Westminster for continuing to offer Wooster students the opportunity to learn about ministry and missions through their many internships. She looks forward getting to know this community of believers and what ministry and religious life means to them.
