Bringing Physics to Elementary School Children

Wooster's Physics Club performs science experiments for local elementary school classrooms to educate, entertain, and spark interest in science among grade school children. In 2007 and 2009 our program won national Blake Lilly awards from the Society of Physics Students of the American Institute of Physics.

CoW Physics Majors have performed air pressure, electricity and magnetism, optics and mechanics experiments for appreciative audiences. In return, they have received wonderful cards & letters.

2012-2013 School Visits

This past year, the Wooster Physics Outreach team did 17 school visits at 6 different schools. Schools participating were: Shreve Elementary, Parkview Elementary, Melrose Elementary, St. Mary's School, Cornerstone Elementary, and a special visit to Triway High School for a holography demonstration.

The students in Ms. Shemesnki's class at Shreve Elementary rewarded the outreach team with individually written thank-you letters!
